Tasks for AWS 3.0 Release Notes

24 October 2024

The Utoolity team is pleased to present Tasks for AWS 3.0 – this release adds an AWS App Runner task, adds support for AWS CodeArtifact credentials (authentication tokens), and upgrades the app to Atlassian Data Center Platform 7 (Jira 10 and Bamboo 10).

You can now deploy/pause/resume App Runner services via the AWS App Runner Service task, provide temporary AWS CodeArtifact credentials (authentication tokens) to AWS unaware tasks via the AWS CodeArtifact Credentials Variables task, and you can use the app with Bamboo 10.0.x.

Please review the Tasks for AWS 3.0 Upgrade Notes for important release information.

Highlights

Deploy/Pause/Resume AWS App Runner services

You can deploy/pause/resume App Runner services via the AWS App Runner Service task to “Deploy web applications and APIs at scale” – refer to the introductory blog post for details:

AWS App Runner builds and deploys web applications automatically, load balances traffic with encryption, scales to meet your traffic needs, and allows for the configuration of how services are accessed and communicate with other AWS applications in a private Amazon VPC.

Provide AWS CodeArtifact credentials

Use the AWS CodeArtifact Credentials Variables task to provide temporary AWS CodeArtifact credentials (authentication tokens) for other tools by injecting them into AWS unaware tasks like the Bamboo Script task.

Use AWS CodeArtifact credentials with the Bamboo Script task

The most frequent use case for the AWS CodeArtifact Credentials Variables task is to enable the built-in Bamboo Script task to transfer application dependencies from/to an AWS CodeArtifact repository via package managers – refer to AWS CodeArtifact package for details.

This feature is provided by Identity Federation for AWS (Bamboo), which is bundled and free for Automation with AWS licensees, see our resp. FAQ for details.

Upgrade to Atlassian Data Center Platform 7

The app is now compatible with Jira 10.0 and Bamboo 10.0 to unlock your upgrade to Atlassian Data Center Platform 7. This upgrade improves the quality of Atlassian’s response to security changes with reduced disruption and breaking changes for Atlassian Marketplace apps, refer to Jira release 10.0.x and Bamboo release 10.0.x for details.

Enjoy refreshed region display names

We have realigned the region display names and ordering with the AWS Management Console to improve recognizability and ease context switching.
